Our 1st Weekday Lesson 08 - My Experience

We started our weekday lesson for the P6 students today. I was late and skipped my dinner. While I was a few meters away from the centre, I received a call from one of the students asking for my whereabout. Luckily, C.Yang and Y.Sheng were there to attend to the students before I arrived.

This is not my first time conducting a weekday class, but it is my first time co-ordinating and at the same time teaching a group of students. Luckily, Y.Lee has given me the advice to prepare the assessment papers before the lesson. I could have been lost if I had not done the preparation the night before.

After the lesson started, it came to my surprise that only the guys volunteers could turn up for the lesson. To "protect" them and myself, we had to switch to a classroom that had a glass window that was viewable by the counter aunty. (hmm....it seems to be quite a pain to be a guy volunteer or mentor heh?...Haaa..)

The class went on smoothly after that. Each of us take 2 students. Some students brought their school homework along and we guided them. The student which I was teaching got stuck in most of her school's Maths questions. I had to give lots of attension to her for the whole evening. My brain was nearly drained by the time we left at 9pm. That was really a Challenge!

New Member In Our Family

Eugene.C has just joined us last Saturday. He is currently serving his NS. I do not know much about him yet. But he was assigned to the new student last week.

His email reply to my request for an intro of himself on Sunday:

"I'm just a regular heartlander who wishes to do his part for the community. Helping out at yuying is my way of contributing back. Being slow to warm up and painfully shy, i usually look serious and unfriendly. But once i get to know you better i can be very fun-loving. " - Eugene.C

Let's welcome him to our Big Family! Looks like he really needs to get a bit of warm up. I think the coming 19th July outing would be a good ice-breaker for him too.
